After moving from New York City to our first home in Maplewood, New Jersey, we realized that we had a lot more space in our first house than in our tiny apartment on the Upper West Side. This was a great problem to have, but we didn’t have any furniture to fill all that space! The problem tripled when we moved into a bigger house a few years later. We always had an idea of the things we wanted, but when we found them, they were always too expensive, the wrong size, the wrong color, or just not made very well. After much time spent in frustrating searches and staring at our empty, unfurnished house, we decided to make our own items from things that we could afford or find.
